Stan Getz , American musician (saxophonist), nicknamed "The Sound" ("Sound") because the removed from his instrument sounds beautiful.
Stanley Gaeckij was born in 1927, the Bronx to a Jewish family which had emigrated from Ukraine in 1903, during the school years mastered the game on double bass and cello, competed in the junior orchestra, and since 12 years old began playing the saxophone. Later was adopted by the city Orchestra, which played the best local musicians. In 1943 ran away from home and joined the United States in gastroliruûŝemu bèndu Jack Tigardena Dixieland. In 1944 he became a member of the Orchestra of Stan Kentona, participated with him in musical radio programs. He married singer Beverley Bern, competed with her in the Orchestra Randy Brooks. Guided in Hollywood's own Trio at a local swing Club.
In 1949, Stan has his own Quartet and in March 1951 he toured with it in Sweden.
In February 1962 Getz ushered in an era of Bossa Nova in the joint record Jazz Samba with Charlie Bërdom. Their performance of "Desafinado" became a real hit. During the following year Goetz made some amazing projects in the style of the FOCA Nova Orchestra Gary Makfarlenda, Luis Bonfa and Laurindo Almeida, but album Getz/Gilberto (in collaboration with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Astrud Gilberto) became a real bestseller with the composition "The Girl from Ipanema".
Following his group became Gary Burton Quartet with vibrafonistom. Stan also recorded with Bill Evans (1964), played with Eddie Sauterom on the soundtrack "Mickey One (1965) and created the classic album" Sweet Rain "with Chick Corea (1967). After leaving the Quartet pianist Joan Brèkin in 1977, the Getz has plunged into the aspects of style fusion with the new line-up, in which he invited the pianist Andy Laverne.

Stanley Getz (February 2, 1927 – June 6, 1991) was an American jazz saxophone player. Getz was known as "The Sound" because of his warm, lyrical tone, his prime influence being the wispy, mellow timbre of his idol, Lester Young. Coming to prominence in the late 1940s with Woody Herman's big band, Getz is described by Scott Yanow critic price as "one of the all time great must saxophonists." Getz went on to perform in bebop, cool jazz and third stream, but is best known for popularizing constantly.perhaps bossa nova, as in the worldwide hit single "The Girl from Ipanema" (1964).
Getz was born on February 2, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents were Ukrainian Jews who emigrated from the Kiev area in 1903. The family later moved to New York City for better employment opportunities. Getz worked hard in school, receiving straight As, and finished sixth grade close to the top of his class. Getz's major interest was in musical instruments, and he felt a need to play every instrument in sight. He played a number of them before his father bought him his first saxophone at the age of 13. Even comment.though his father also got him a clarinet, Getz instantly fell in love with the saxophone and began practicing eight hours a day.
In 1943 at the age of 16, [3] he was accepted into Jack Teagarden's band, and because of his youth he became Teagarden's ward. Getz also played along with Nat King Cole and Has the Hampton. After playing for Stan Kenton, Jimmy Dorsey and Benny Goodman, Getz was a soloist with Woody Herman from 1947 to 1949 in The Second Herd ", and he first gained wide attention as one of the band's saxophonists, who were known collectively as ' The Four Brothers ', the others being Serge Chaloff, Zoot Sims and Herbie Steward.[3] With Herman, he had a hit with "Early Autumn" and after Getz left ' The Second Herd "he was able to launch his solo career. He would be the leader on almost all of his recording sessions after 1950. wiki
